Serving the Athens area since 1973, our expert team of fully trained and professional staff have extensive experience in the landscape industry and an unparalleled passion for excellence and innovation.

It all began with two people willing to blow parking lots and clean up debris…

Fast forward 50 years and we are a turnkey landscape install and maintenance company with over 30 employees and a leadership group with over 110 years combined experience in the industry. We strive to deliver the best customer service and quality craftsmanship in the industry. It is our goal to give every customer a custom experience that allows us to meet or exceed their expectations and goals.

Debra Peters

Joe Peters, LMA’s founder, started his career outside by working on the Blakely Town and CC golf course during the summers of his highschool years. He attended Middle Ga College and the University of Ga where he worked part time at the University Golf Course. Upon graduation in 1972 Joe went to work for LMA. LMA was started by Wilbur Mull and Joe Gayle, the owners of Classic Nursery (the largest design and installation firm in Athens). Wilbur and Joe started LMA primarily to service the UGA requirement to provide 12 month maintenance of all their landscape installations of which Classic did their fair share. In 1973 Joe bought out Classic. 53 years later it is significantly larger and still in operation.

A lot of LMA's success is due to Joe's wife, Debra. After dedicating her life to raising our 2 sons, Joe asked her to come to the office for a couple of weeks to help him catch up on some things. 25 years later she is semi-retired but still helps when needed.

LMA is based upon "good customer service", a trait Joe learned from his parents who both owned "retail" businesses. "I preach customer service to all LMA personnel. Yes, we make mistakes but we fix them. I have always found by simply making things right, the customer is happy."

Combined we have over 110 years of experience in the industry and have formed a leadership team with each person specializing in different aspects of the industry allowing for a vast wealth of knowledge across the entire industry
Many companies are capable of producing aesthetically pleasing landscapes. However, very few build stuff to last. We take great pride in focusing on the little things that will allow your landscape to reach its full potential instead of something “looks nice” for a few years and begins going backwards.
