Water, Water, Water…Wisely!!!

  • Water deeply and less frequently to encourage stronger, drought-tolerant roots.

  • Water most plants every 2–3 days, depending on age:

    • New plants (under 3 years) need more frequent watering.

    • Established plants (5+ years) need less.

  • Aim for about 1 inch of water per week for both plants and lawns.

  • Consider factors like:

    • Nearby tree roots competing for water.

    • Dense foliage blocking rainfall.

Make sure all planting beds have adequate mulch for moisture retention.

  • Apply 2–3 inches of mulch around plants to retain moisture.

  • Never pile mulch against the trunk or stems.

Fertilize flowers and yellowing shrubs with organic fertilizers like Holly-tone or Flower-tone, avoiding high-nitrogen fertilizers. Water thoroughly after applying fertilizer.

Watch for signs of Insect or Disease activity. Treat as soon as possible to reduce decline.

Pull or spray weeds to reduce water loss and plant competition.
